JSR Charcoal Begins Renewable Energy Journey under SEDA Malaysia

JSR Charcoal is proud to announce the beginning of our renewable energy initiative under the Feed-in Tariff 2.0 (FiT 2.0) program, managed by SEDA Malaysia. This achievement marks a significant step forward in our long-term commitment to integrating sustainable practices into our operations and contributing to Malaysia’s clean energy transition.

At JSR, we are taking a bold step toward circular energy utilization by converting syngas, a byproduct from our charcoal production process, into renewable electricity. Instead of releasing or flaring this gas, we are investing in technology that allows us to recover and reuse it — turning a once-unused resource into a valuable source of clean power. This approach not only improves our operational efficiency but also reduces our environmental footprint, aligning our efforts with Malaysia’s broader goal of achieving 70% renewable capacity by 2050.

Our project is now in the planning and equipment sourcing stage, where we are carefully reviewing proposals and technical designs to ensure that every component meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency. By combining innovative biomass energy systems with proven engineering solutions, JSR Charcoal aims to demonstrate how traditional industries can adapt and lead in the renewable era.
